The TAG Heuer Formula 1 debuted in 1986, shortly after Techniques d’Avant Garde acquired Heuer, finally becoming TAG Heuer. Techniques d’Avant Garde (now you know where “TAG” comes from) was a leading manufacturer of high-tech aviation and race car components, like ceramic turbochargers for Formula One cars. In a decision that would define the brand for decades to come, TAG Heuer chose to nourish that relationship with watches like the Formula 1 and various motorsport partnerships.
 
One of the inspirations for the Formula 1 is the Heuer Easy Rider from the 1970s, a sporty watch that attempted to engage a younger audience with its affordable mechanical movement, resin case and stark colours.
 
This particular Formula 1 watch combines a 44mm round shaped stainless steel case with a matching bracelet. It has a deep metallic green dial with matching sub dials and contrasting vibrant orange accents, date display, a tachymeter scale and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass. Powered by the robust and reliable Calibre 16 movement this model also has a water resistance of up to 200 metres.
