The dial of the modern Air-King is inspired by a car regardless of it's name. In 2011, Rolex announced that it was sponsoring a team known as Bloodhound SSC and Rolex designed two gauge dials that went into the car’s cockpit, including the speedometer and clock. The legacy of Rolex’s relationship with the Bloodhound jet car remains in the dial of the modern Rolex Air-King watch.
 
Rolex thoroughly redesigned and relaunched the Air-King for 2022 and to the untrained eye, it may not look too different to the older model, but there are serious differences, mainly in a new slimmer case and new crown guards, although it retains the same 40mm case diameter and the new caliber 3320 movement. As well as some dial tweaks and oyster bracelet and oysterlock modifications, it has made for a very successful and sportier latest iteration of this model.
