The Chronomat holds a significant place in Breitling’s history. Based on the Frecce Tricolori chronograph, which had been developed and launched in 1983 in collaboration with the famed Italian aerial squadron, the Chronomat celebrated Breitling’s centenary in style and marked the return of the mechanical chronograph to its rightfully prominent place. This is when Breitling debuted both the Rouleaux bracelet and the rotating bezel with the “rider tabs”
 
This model is the 40mm GMT which incorporates the 24hr markers on the rehaut. These dials features a "tone-on-tone" 24-hour scale, matching the dial to the rehaut instead of going for a multi-color bezel. Breitling believes this increases legibility, letting the red GMT stand out.
 
What finishes this latest Chronomat is the re-issuing of Breitlings striking Rouleaux integrated bracelet, with brushed and polished interlinks, it gives the watch a modern but retro look and feel. This is a great wearing watch that has real wrist appeal.
